Permanent exposition of the The Kurgan Regional Art Museum is situated in four exhibition rooms and includes more than 200 works of national art. It is based on chronological principle which demonstrates the benefits of collection to the fullest extent. The story about the universal cultural context mutually complements the exposure of the local cultural traditions and putting the Trans-Uralian painters into the all-Russian art context (icons from the Central Russia and local workshops of Joseph Khlopotov and Georgy Shalavin, paintings by Pyotr Konchalovsky and Valentin Korshunov). Apart from the local schools the works by painters from ex-USSR republics are exhibited, which gives a rare possibility to get to know the national contexts of the visual art.
