‘The House of Countess Panina’ was opened in 2005 in the former estate of the well-known Panin family. The Countess Sofya Vladimirovna Panina (1871–1956) became a symbolic figure of the museum.
The exhibition recreates the atmosphere of the 19th century. The ‘Music Hall’ exhibition room displays various musical devices and instruments — a gramophone, several models of musical boxes, a gramophone with string resonator, and a phonograph.
The ‘History of Clothes’ exhibit hall presents female clothes created at the turn of 20th century, ancient headdresses and handicrafts, for example, gold embroidery, which the Nizhny Novgorod region was famous for. The hall ‘Early printed books and manuscripts’ describes the history of books and culture of Gorodets Old Believers.
Various clock models can be found in the hall ‘Lords of the Time’.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
