The miniature scaled camera ‘Vega-2’ was produced in the Kiev factory ‘Arsenal’ from 1961 to 1964. The camera wasthe second stage of the first Kiev-Vega model based on the Japanese Minolta-16.

‘Vega-2’ was very small and easily fit in a pocket, for which it was called ‘the Spy camera’. It included a 16 mm non-perforated film loaded into a special cassette with two compartments. The cassette was designed for 30 frames of 10×14 mm in size. There was no tape rewind function, but you could change the cassette any time. With the help of such a design only 20 mm ofthe film couldbe spoiled.

The camera had a metal body, and the mechanism itself was placed into a lightproof inner part of the body. The lens of ‘Vega-2’, in contrast to the rigidly fixed one in the previous model ‘Kiev-Vega’, could focus on the meter scale. Camera focuscould be performed from half a meter to infinity. The exposure calculator consisting of two movable circular discs was placed to the top panel.
