The copy of the Gospel that is stored in the Tambov Regional Ethnography Museum was printed in the Moscow Synodal Printing House in 1896. This is a communion-table Gospel; it was kept on the Lord’s Table that was located in the center of the church altar. This Gospel symbolizes the appearance of Jesus Christ and His continued presence in the church.
This copy of the book was found in Tambov during the ministry of Archbishop Luke Voyno-Yasenetsky in 1944-1946. In 1944, the Intercession Church was restored and got the status of the cathedral, or the main Orthodox church in the city. In February of the same year, Archbishop Luke turned to the parishioners of the Intercession Cathedral with a request to bring everything that could be useful to the church. This Gospel was among the objects brought by the parishioners.
