Valeriy Sergeevich Egorov (1940–1998) was born in the town of Kovrov. He finished Mstyora art vocational school. He is a prominent representative of Vladimir Painting School, the honored artist of RF.

In 1960 Valeriy Egorov moved to Vladimir deliberately in order to work side-by-side with Yukin, Britov, Kokurin. He used to work outdoors with them, took part in the exhibitions at the highest level.

The artist’s works stood out from the works of Vladimir painters. He painted impasto but used less thick layers of paint, color relations in his pictures were less contrast, he had tendency to create plot-thematic pictures on the themes devoted to the life of villages and collective farms.

Landscape “Usolie village” reveals distinctive features of Valeriy Egorov’s works. The artist conveys soft color relations of warm red, orange, golden hues with cold blue and lilac hues.

The author alternated between wide planes applied with a palette knife and small brush strokes, he also used thin layers of paint. Such method was characteristic for the painter’s creativity, it singled him out among his colleagues who preferred painting built on contrast.

Valeriy Egorov’s landscape is a view on the Church of Kazan Icon of the Mother of God with surrounding houses, one of which has a red brick color. Such roofs of bright, red brick color are often met in the artist’s works, they are his “logotype” among Vladimir Painting School works.

Usolye vlllage is located 25 kilometers from the town of Kovrov — Valeriy Egorov’s hometown. The village attracted artists with its original atmosphere of Russian village life.
