The family tree is a chart representing family relationships within that family. It is often depicted in the shape of a tree. This family tree was made by Yunus Khalidovich Tlekhas, a native of Gatlukai village, who currently lives in Krasnodar.

The tree on display covers the period from 1819 to the present day and consists of 9 generations. Its maker compiled an appendix to the tree — “The history of the Tlekhas family” (“L1yhase l1akom itarih”). The appendix lists not only the names but also each family member’s years of life.

In addition to that, the appendix contains tables with various information about the family:

— a table listing the names of those who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. The table lists a total of 23 people, of whom 19 people died and 4 people were missing;

— a table with the names and surnames of the daughters-in-law of the Tlekhas family. Yunus Tlekhas gave this table a very romantic name “L1ak iojek iuhumak1oh” — “The keepers of the family hearth”. A total of 243 daughters-in-law of the Tlekhas family are listed in the table. The maker did not just list their names, but gave their patronymics, maiden names and years of life;

— a table listing the sons-in-law and nephews of the Tlekhas family;

— a table where childless families of the genus are listed — they are highlighted with round plates at the end of the branches.

The appendix also provides detailed versions of where the Adyghe surname Tlekhas came from. Upon exploring the tree, one may notice that native Adyghe names at the top are gradually replaced by contemporary names, such as Ruslan, Lyudmila, Dayana, Diana, and so on.

According to the Yunus Tlekhas, he collected materials and information about his ancestors for more than 10 years. Initially, this was just a basic family tree. However, soon he realized that it would be impossible to cram this much information into it. Then he came up with this diagram. Yunus Tlekhas made three such trees: one for himself, one for his brother, and the third for the Adygeysk Museum of Local Lore.
