Lydia Andreyeva was the academician Ivan Pavlov’s sister. She was the tenth and last child in the family. Lydia and her elder brother Ivan had a 25-year age difference and all her life she had his attention and care. Lydia was still a little girl when her elder brothers Ivan and Dmitry were already studying at Saint Petersburg Imperial University. Whenever on a visit to the capital, Lydia together with her mother lived with them for long periods of time.
The father of Lydia, Ivan and Dmitry — Pyotr Dmitriyevich Pavlov — was a clergyman. After his death, the eldest sons renounced their inheritance in favor of the younger children Sergey and Lydia. Lydia inherited the entire Pavlov estate in Ryazan, which included two houses, a large orchard, a summerhouse, and adjoining outbuildings.
In 1895, Lydia married Dmitry Porfiriyevich Andreyev, the secretary of the Spiritual Consistory that was appointed to Ryazan. On the 25th wedding anniversary, Andreyev wrote to his wife,
