A young woman sits in an armchair half-turned to the viewer. She is wearing a light blue dress and has a black scarf tied in a bow around her neck. Her arms lean on the armrests, an open book lies on her lap. Her hair is pulled back with curls framing the face. The armchair is dark red, and the armrests are decorated with onlays shaped like a lion’s head.

The painting depicts Camille Le Dentu during the time spent in the Ivashev family estate in Undory. The young woman is about to set on a trip to Petrovsk to marry the Decembrist and state criminal Vasily Petrovich Ivashev. Camille wrote to the emperor asking for his permission to travel,

Your Majesty! My heart is overwhelmed with a true, deep, everlasting love for the unfortunate son of General Ivashev, condemned by law. I have loved him ever since I was a child. He is so dear to me that I vow to share his life and fate. My mother agrees to this marriage, as well as the parents of the unfortunate young man, who know all about my feelings and see no obstacles to granting the desire of my heart.

The Turinsk artist Boris Neimyshev copied this portrait from the work created by the serf artist of the Ivashevs.

Boris Neimyshev was born in 1955. Until 1974, he studied and worked in Tyumen. From 1974 to 1976 he served in the army on Lake Baikal. In 1981, he graduated from the Ural School of Applied Arts in Nizhny Tagil with a degree in Artistic Metalworking. After graduating, Neimyshev settled in Turinsk.

Boris Neimyshev is one of the most prominent artists of the Turinsk region at the turn of the 21st century. He eternalized the history of this area in his works, such as the monument dedicated to Ivan Pushchin, a bas-relief board to the Decembrist Nikolay Basargin, the iconostasis of the Church of the Savior, a memorial bas-relief to Marshal Georgy Zhukov at the local station, and a monument to the fallen front-line soldiers in the settlement of Yerzovskoye. He painted portraits of famous people (“Yesenin”, “Portrait of Alexander Blok”, “Vladimir Vysotsky”) and contemporaries (“Alexeich”, “Portrait of Grandmother”). In each portrait and self-portrait, Boris Neimyshev emphasizes the Russianness of the characters through the use of a traditional costume or element of the interior.
