In June 1936, 66 scouts from Zaragoza were camping in the Ordessa Valley, 10 km from the French border. As a result of the ICRC’s work, 45 of them were allowed to leave Barcelona and cross the border to find refuge in Lourdes on 23.10.1936. They returned to Zaragoza on 20.04.1937.The 21 scouts forcibly held in Barcelona (considered ready for military service) participated in the exchange, prepared by the ICRC, with an operetta troupe, which was detained in Zaragoza. The negotiations have ended; the French steamer Imerethie II left Barcelona on June 3 for Marseille. The exchange of the scouts and actors of the operetta troupe “Noranjas of China” took place on June 7 on the international bridge of Irun.
