A hand grenade is a powerful individual weapon. In the hands of a skilled and well-trained soldier a grenade is a rather formidable and effective means of warfare. A fun name for grenades is a ‘pocket artillery’ but there is a grain of truth in this joke. Hand grenades enable soldiers to solve the same tasks on the battlefield that cannons do, i.e. to destroy the enemy firing points, manpower and military equipment.
At the same time, the hand grenade design is extremely simple and cheap, the mass of the device is small, and it does not require any additional accessories.
