This photo was taken in 1928. It depicts the first national poet of Bashkortostan Majit Gafuri, his wife Zukhra Gafuri, sons Anvar and Khalit and nephew Gabbas.
The family always meant a lot to Majit Gafuri. His wife Zukhra obliged to provide a reliable support, did not distract the poet from his creative work with everyday problems. She was also the first listener of his works and counselor. Gafuri had two sons. The elder son — Anvar, a member of the Great Patriotic War, had military awards. Afterwards, he became a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR and worked actively in Bashkir radio and television stations. The younger son — Khalit was also talented, but, unfortunately, died early.
In one of Gafuri’s letters addressed to Zukhra, the following lines are written:
