Garden of dreams, new fairy tales about flowers. Poems and illustrations by Ernst Kreidolf. The old ‘Tales of Flowers’ became the artist’s first illustrated book for children that he published in 1898. He was a master of watercolour, which was later reproduced in print using chromolithography.

Kreidolf has a great sense of humour, in addition to his expert use of colour, line and rhythm. His books were neither translated nor published in Russia. Meanwhile, he remains popular in Switzerland and Germany.

He provided some of the books with his own texts. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Munich, then the Academy of Fine Arts in the same city.
