A mechanical wall clock with a bell, is wound up with a key.
The case of the watch is made in the “Viennese style”, which is distinguished by an elongated glazed frame decorated with a high carved crown, as well as chiseled decorative elements on both sides of the door. The dial is covered with “hot enamel”, with Roman numerals. Classic massive pendulum. The chiming of the clock is quite melodious, thanks to the spiral gong. The clock “strikes” every hour and strikes every half.
The pendulum mechanism. The mechanism of the pendulum clock is based on the oscillations of the pendulum, which is supported by a wound spring or a suspended weight. In order for the oscillation frequency to remain unchanged, their amplitude must be constant. They must be fixed. And the accuracy of the movement of such watches directly depends on the length of the pendulum itself.
Watch manufacturer: German Watch factory Kienzle (Kienzle)
The history of the watch company Kienzle, rich in changes, began in 1822. At this time, the master watchmaker Johannes Schlenker with his sons Christian-Johannes, Erhard and another son began making the so-called “Black Forest watches”. Schlenker’s company successfully developed, production grew, and watches were exported to many countries. Watchmaking is constantly developing and modernizing, and international activities are also expanding.
In 1883, Jakob Kienzle married, became related to the Schlenkers and made a major contribution to the development of the company. The company name was changed to Schlenker and Kinzle “Schlenker & Kienzle”. And already in 1888, the partners are building a large watch factory in the Czech Republic, where about 130 people work.
In 1897, after misunderstandings between partners, Karl Johannes Schlenker left the company forever, leaving the company to Jacob Kinzle, who tirelessly developed it, opening branch after branch: in Milan, Paris and even London. So according to the statistics of the Kinzle company “Kienzle” in 1899, 162,000 different types of watches were produced.
In the Russian Empire, wall clocks began to be imported en masse at the beginning of the 20th century, they belonged to the category of inexpensive, accessible to a wide range of the population.
The watches from the collection of the Boguchansky Museum originally belonged to the Pinchug merchant of the first Tolstoy guild, Pyotr Vasilyevich, who did a lot for the Punchug parish and village. He conducted a large trade with the Evenks. He had shops open in almost every village.
In Soviet times, these watches were sent to the Sberbank branch in the village of Boguchany. And in 2007 they were transferred to the museum by Andron Viktor Daniilovich.
