One of the unique items in the collection of the Russian National Museum of Music is a Fender electric bass guitar manufactured in the USA in the early 1980s. The guitar’s headstock features an inscription “Fender JAZZ BASS.” This is a four-string bass with two magnetic pickups and an equalizer.

The company’s name has become a synonym for rock and roll. Fender introduced the first solid-body guitars which are now an integral part of popular music. Numerous famous artists have used Fender guitars, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Ronnie Wood, and Bob Dylan.

The company was founded in California by the inventor Leo Fender in 1946. The manufacturer is well-known for its electric and acoustic guitars, audio equipment, and amplifiers. In the 1950s and 1960s, Fender introduced several iconic electric guitar models. They achieved legendary status and are still produced alongside other models. These instruments have a simple, universally applicable, and convenient design. Fender electric guitars have a bright, clear, and articulate sound.

Fender bass guitars are just as popular. The structure of all modern bass guitars is based on the initial design by Leo Fender. This Fender bass entered the Music Museum as part of the collection of the drummer, entertainer, producer, and composer Rishad Shafiyev who is better known as Rishad Shafi.

His collection included drums, tambourines, other percussion and electric instruments, sheet music, a personal archive, audio and video materials, photographs, and stage props which he had purchased and collected for his “Drums Mega Show.” The project was intended to include three drum sets and a dance group. However, this grand plan was not implemented due to the untimely death of Rishad Shafi.

This electric bass held a special place in the musician’s collection. Most likely, this guitar was used by the bass player Vladimir Belousov of the legendary Turkmen “Gunesh Ensemble” in the 1980s. In the early 1990s, he and five other musicians quit the band and left Turkmenistan. The bass, being a valuable treasure, was left to the band’s drummer Rishad Shafi.
