The Mezhdurechensk Exhibition Hall plays a central role in the city’s cultural life, and is a place where residents can experience art.
The gallery’s history dates back to the very foundation of Tomusa, as the city used to be known. The workers who built the city — inmates of labor camps, political prisoners in the Kamysh Camp, and young members of the Komsomol — were sent here from every corner of our vast country. Among them were people with remarkable talents, including artists, architects and sculptors, who made their mark on Mezhdurechensk’s history and culture. March 7, 1999 saw the opening of the first exhibition, “Artists from our City”.
Outside, in the grounds of the Exhibition Hall, can be seen the Field of Legends, an ensemble of wooden sculptures representing Slavic deities. This popular local landmark is the joint work of a group of artists from Mezhdurechensk.
The Exhibition Hall grounds also host free exhibitions of paintings and photographs, displayed on outdoor stands, where they can be seen by residents and visitors to the city.
