The Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, founded in 1958, has evolved from a modest provincial institution into one of the leading museums in the country over the last 50 years.
Today, the museum boasts 45
exhibitions in Vladimir, Suzdal, and Gus-Khrustalny, as well as eight
exhibition halls and 64 architectural landmarks, seven of which have been
included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. These are the Golden Gate, the
Assumption and Saint Demetrius cathedrals of the 12th century in
Vladimir, as well as the 13th-century Cathedral of the Nativity of
the Theotokos, the ensemble of Monastery of St. Euthymius, and the oldest
monuments in Bogolyubovo and Kideksha villages.
