The history of the Valuy Museum of History and Art began in 1964. The Museum of Fine Arts was opened in the town at the initiative of Alexander Ignatiev, a native resident of Valuyki, People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. The exposition is located in an old two-story mansion built in 1913.
In 2002, the Valuy Museum became a Museum of History and Art because the collection of paintings was enriched with ancient manuscripts, archeological, historical, and material heritage monuments of the Valuy region. Today, the Museum’s exposition consists of the ‘Soviet Fine Art’ and the ‘History of the Valuy region from ancient times to our age’ sections.
