The Ulyanovsk Art Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Volga region with a unique collection of art from Western Europe and Russia.
The collection of the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum began to form in 1895 as an art section of the Historical and Archaeological Museum of the Simbirsk Provincial Scientific Archival Commission. After the revolution of 1917, private collections of Simbirsk nobility and merchants entered the museum. A number of artworks were transferred to Ulyanovsk from the State Museum Fund, the Pushkin House of the Academy of Sciences and the State Hermitage. Today, the collection of the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum has more than 12 thousand authentic works of art.
The Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum welcomes up to 150,000 visitors a year.
