The Tula Kremlin Museum is a real journey into the past. The medieval Russian fortress, which is 500 years old, has survived without significant damage. The display shows how wooden bridges were built across a massive moat, cannonballs flew from the corner towers, and a large city was born inside the fortress walls.
The museum complex also includes modern exhibitions: the Museum of History and Archeology of the Tula Kremlin, the Military History Museum, interactive and multimedia installations.
A pavilion with the 17th-century foundation of the Assumption Cathedral was created on Cathedral Square. There are archaeological finds that help to learn the first stone cathedral in the city. In the south-eastern part of the fortress there is the “Siege Yards” complex with recreated residential and utility buildings, depicting the daily life of the Kremlin in the 17th century.
