The museum is located in two old buildings in the very center of the city. The exhibition ‘Old Tula Pharmacy’ is located in the Belyavsky House, while the neighboring Kraft House is home to the exhibition rooms.
The museum collects and studies the histories of Tula families, famous citizens, and local communities; it examines the structure of the city, its toponymy, symbolic spaces, and mythology.
The museum funds contain more than 10 thousand exhibits from the 18th — 20th centuries: sculptural and architectural works, art and craft items, paintings, graphics, military equipment elements, military uniforms and military paraphernalia, ancient documents and photographic materials, rare books and newspaper publications, as well as household objects and memorabilia from the family archives of the city’s residents.
