The Taganrog Art Museum is the pearl of South Russia. At its origins stood an outstanding writer Anton Chekhov. The first exhibits that entered the collection at the beginning of the 20th century appeared with his active participation. Over the decades of the Museum’s life, its collection significantly increased and enriched with works of painting, graphics, sculpture, and applied art. Among the main masterpieces of the Museum are works by iconic artists of the 18th-20th centuries A.P. Antropov, F.S. Rokotov, I.E. Repin, V.I. Surikov, I.I. Shishkin, I.I. Levitan, and other Russian masters.
