Severodvinsk City Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1970. It is located in a historic building — the first maternity hospital in the city. About 40 thousand children were born within these walls — this is a significant part of the residents of Severodvinsk, who played an important role in its formation.
The exposition is based on the ethnographic collection of the local historian Alexander Patokin, pieces from the city exhibition dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Severodvinsk, and personal belongings and documents donated by city veterans. Today the archives of the museum have more than 70,000 exhibits.
Expositions and exhibitions show the traditions of the Pomors, who founded the first port of the Russian North on the site of modern Severodvinsk, the history of the city in the Soviet period, the submarine shipbuilding and other important topics for Severodvinsk residents.
