The story of the Oryol Museum of Local History began in 1897. For many years of its existence, the museum managed to change several addresses until, in 1932, it moved to the Trade Rows, a mid-19th century heritage site. Here it continues to work today.
Over more than 120 years, the museum’s exhibitions have changed many times, reflecting the spirit of their time. However, their basis continues to be collections of original exhibits housed in the museum’s funds.
Nowadays, the exhibition of the Oryol Museum of Local History includes an extensive segment covering the Oryol Region history from ancient times to the end of the 20th century, as well as a number of thematic sections.
