Novosibirsk State Art Museum was opened in 1958. Today the museum’s collection amounts to over 12,000 artworks. It encompasses Russian and Western European painting masterpieces, graphics, sculptures, and applied arts. The collection mainly consists of artworks from the foundations of the Ministry of Culture as well as the storage rooms of the Tretyakov Gallery, Russian Museum, the Hermitage, and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. Every two years, the museum holds an International Biennale of contemporary graphic art to promote graphic art and unite cultural institutions of the Siberian region.
