The National Gallery of the Komi Republic is the region’s only museum of fine arts. Founded in 1943, the museum houses over 10,000 paintings, statues, and works of graphic and applied art.
The gallery’s exhibition features the art of:
— Italian, French, German, Austrian, and Dutch painters of the 17th–18thcenturies;
— Russian painters of the 18thcentury — early 20thcentury;
— Russian avant-garde artists;
— Soviet and contemporary Russian artists;
— artists of the Komi Republic.
Since 1993, the National Gallery has been located in the building of a former religious school constructed in 1890.
Nowadays, the gallery focuses on studying and popularizing its collections and presenting them to a wide range of visitors.
