The Popular Museum of Mytishchi was established in 1962 by simple history enthusiasts. It became the research center for the tradition, culture, and history of this region. The collection of the Museum feature artifacts of the past long gone.
Today, the collections of the Mytishchi History and Art Museum include thousands of exhibits, ranging from 3,000 BC until the present day.
The exposition makes a special emphasis on the Imperial village of Tayninskoe, the history of the first aqueduct in Mytishchi and Moscow, the country estates Marfino, Nikolo-Prozorovo, and Rozhdestvenno-Suvorovo, to the unique local arts and crafts of Russia—Fedoskino and Zhostovo, and the most recent history of Mytishchi. Alongside with the permanent exhibition, the Museum houses artwork exhibitions.
