All-Russian Shukshin Memorial Museum Preserve is situated in the director’s home village of Srostki, Biysk district, Altai Krai.
The museum complex comprises three buildings that have the status of historic and cultural heritage sites. Those are the house that Vasily Shukshin purchased for his mother Maria Kuksina, the school where he studied and taught (the museum’s main building), and the house where he spent his childhood.
The museum’s collection includes several thousands of exhibits: original photographs, letters, documents, newspaper and magazine clippings, posters, and shots from Shukshin’s films. The director’s family and friends contributed to the establishment of the collection together with Srostki village residents.
Shukshin Days in the Altai festival is held every year with the museum’s support. Thousands of people from all corners of the country visit the event.
