The Borodino Museum-Reserve is dedicated to two Patriotic wars. This is the world’s oldest museum of those that were established on the battlefields. The territory of the museum-reserve covers 110 square kilometers.
There are more than 200 monuments and memorials on this area. The museum has six permanent exhibitions. It houses collections of archeological artifacts, printed graphics of the first half of the 19th century, and rare books.
Every year, the military-historical holidays “Victory Day”, “The Steadfast Tin Soldier”, “Borodino’s Day” and “Moscow is Behind Us. 1941” are held on the Borodino field.
In 2007, the museum was awarded the UNESCO Prize for the Safeguarding and Management of Cultural Landscapes. Ten years later, the Borodino Museum-Reserve was recognized as the best museum of military history.
