#2
The Museum of Theater and Music opened its doors in 1921. It contains over 500,000 invaluable items that shed light on the history of Russian and world theater. The museum houses the biggest collection of musical instruments in Russia, paintings and graphic works by Iliya Repin and Kazimir Malevich, Anna Pavlova’s and Fyodor Chaliapin’s costumes, as well as the autographs of Leo Tolstoy and Alexander Blok.

The Museum of Theater and Music includes five separate museums located in historical buildings of St. Petersburg. This creative complex comprises several concert halls, exhibition and interactive areas, and often hosts concerts, lectures, educational and theatrical activities for adults and children.

The collections and exhibitions of the Museum of Theater and Music were repeatedly distinguished with the prestigious Museum Olympus award.
