Museum-Panorama ‘Battle of Borodino’ tells about the history of the Patriotic War of 1812. Art panorama ‘Borodino’ is the main exhibit item in the museum. It is one of the largest paintings in the world (115×15 meters) created by Russian battle painter Franz Rubot in 1912.
From 1962, the museum is located in the building on Kutuzov Prospect. It is part of the Historical and Memorial Complex dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812.
Beside the Panorama of ‘Borodino’, the museum features more than 800 objects of the epoch of 1812. They include battle pieces and decorative and applied art, weapons, gear and equipment, items of the Russian and French armies’ daily life. In section “Kutuzov”s Wooden Hut”, the environment of the famous Military Council in Fili is recreated.
