The outstanding pianist, teacher, composer, public figure, and the People’s Artist of the USSR Alexander Borisovich Goldenweiser donated his unique collection of books and music publications, paintings, drawings, sculptures, rare photographs, and household items to the state. They tell about the musical and social life of the late 19th — first half of the 20th century. At the suggestion of Goldenweiser, the apartment, where he had lived for 20 years, became the first branch of the Russian National Museum of Music.
The permanent exhibition consists of a memorial part: a hall, an office, a music room, a dining room, and a chamber concert hall. Each room reflects certain aspects of the life and work of Alexander Goldenweiser.
Preserving the traditions of the past, the memorial apartment of Alexander Goldenweiser actively participates in the cultural life of modern Moscow. The museum is a venue for classical music, interesting tours and exhibitions featuring the art of playing the piano.
