The Karelian Front Museum was established to celebrate the centenary of the republic. The building itself in which the museum is located is its most important exhibit: these very walls the served as the Headquarters of the Karelian Front. The building has a rich history: it was built in the early 1930s as a school and it was one of three stone buildings in the city of Belomorsk. All the most important decisions for the Karelian Front were made here.
The main exposition of the Karelian Front Museum has 10 halls located geographically, each telling its own story: the landing on the shore of Lake Ladoga, the Finnish fortifications in the area of Olonets and Medvezhegorsk, the battles for Petrozavodsk, the Kola Peninsula and much more.
The museum is equipped with modern multimedia devices and also uses current museum practices and exhibition solutions.
