The State Museum of Fine Arts of Ingushetia is the only fine arts museum in the republic. It was opened on May 27, 1993, and has become one of the biggest museums in the region.
The collection was based on the artworks previously housed in the Art Gallery of the regional Cultural Center. The Administration of the Sunzhensky District of Ingushetia transferred them to the museum. In addition, graphic artworks from the museum and exhibition center ‘ROSIZO’ were among the first to be displayed in the museum.
Gradually the collection was enriched with modern works of art created by Ingush, North Caucasian, and Russian artists. Presently, the museum houses paintings, graphic artworks, sculptures, precious metals, and decorative arts items.
