Tetyushi Museum of Local History is the oldest one in the republic. Its funds began to form in the early 20th century. Officially, the Region History Museum was opened by the Tetyushi Canton Department of Education on July 11, 1920.
The exhibition of the museum tells about the history of Tetyushi. The visitors can see the archival photographs and documents of the 18th — the 19th centuries, old weapons, such as cannons of the times of Yemelyan Pugachev, and military awards. There is a valuable collection of porcelain and antique lighting devices, including products by Gardner, Nasonov and Kuznetsov factories, Saxon porcelain, and bronzed chandeliers. The ethnography section presents the clothes and everyday items of the main nations of the region. The exhibition also includes materials about the eight Heroes of the Soviet Union and the five Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory who are the natives of the district.
