The Yaroslavl City History Museum named after Vladimir Izvekov is a local history museum initiated a quarter of a century ago by the active Yaroslavl citizens for residents and guests of the city. It is located in one of the most picturesque places of Yaroslavl — at 17, Volzhskaya Embankment.
The house of merchant Vasily Yakovlevich Kuznetsov, built in the late 19th century, embodies the best features of the city manor of the past era. At different times the inner space of the house was divided into spacious rooms, “communal” apartments, hospital wards and museum halls. The house has more than 50 arched windows and almost two dozen arched doorways.
The museum presents three
exhibitions: “Ten Centuries of the Yaroslavl City History”, “The History of
Yaroslavl’s Medicine” and “Yaroslavl’s Kuznetsovs and the House on the
Volzhskaya Embankment”. The museum has two branches — the Nikolay Nuzhin City
Exhibition Hall and the Maxim Bogdanovich Memorial House-Museum.
