The Annunciation Cathedral History Museum is a rare type of museum located in the church where services are held: the exhibition is located in the basement, on the lower floor of the building.
The visitors learn about the history of the Orthodox church from the 16th century to the present day. The collection contains old crosses and icons, Orthodox books of the 16th — 20th centuries, rare photographs and artifacts. Of particular value is the staff of the first archbishop of Kazan and Sviyazhsk, Guriy, who was canonized.
The museum is a structural subdivision of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve, which since 2000 has been included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Sightseeing and thematic excursions, workshops, quests, quizzes and other cultural and educational programs are held here on a regular basis.
