The Mikhail Kalashnikov Memorial Museum is located in the gunsmith’s birthplace — the village of Kuria in the Altai Territory. The exposition is located in the timber building of the school, which was constructed in 1905. The future weapons engineer studied there in the 1920s. The decision to set up the museum was taken in 2009, and the opening ceremony took place in 2013.
The museum collection features 2,500 exhibits in 7 sections, depicting different stages of life and work of the great compatriot. The exposition displays 15 models of small arms, printed materials, the engineer’s personal belongings, awards and letters.
