The Karasuksky Regional Museum opened in 1990 and attracts more than 26,000 visitors every year. The museum has popular collections, including: The Paleontology section, in which you can see the bones of mammoths, cave bears, wooly rhinoceroses and much more; The Numismatics Collection, with dozens of rare Russian cones, dating from the Middle Ages right up to today; The Ethnography Section, which has a real felt tent and objects important for life within its collection. The museum’s staff participate in research, searching for information about settlements in Siberia in archives, put on and advertise new exhibitions. For temporary exhibitions they use the ‘Museum in the Window’ initiative and QR codes, where you can find out more about an object in the exhibition.
