Iskitim State Museum of Arts and History opened on November 4, 1977. It is located in a small town of Iskitim in the Novosibirsk Region.
During the first decades, the museum acquired rare icons and coins, items of peasants’ households of late 19th — early 20th centuries.
Today the museum holds more than 19 thousand exhibits. Its collections are dedicated to archeology and numismatics, graphics and icons, photographs, books and other items; overall, there are 24 collections. The exhibition premises have an area of about one thousand and a half square meters.
The museum holds icons donated by the off-springs of a well-known noble family of Yesipov, natural items, paintings of Siberian artists. A special exhibition is dedicated to Vasily Shukshin’s work.
