The Yershov Museum Complex of Ishim City was opened in 1986. At first, the exposition was located in the Epiphany Cathedral, and in 1990 the museum moved into an old two-story mansion — the building of the former elementary school, which had been built by a merchant Nikolai Chernyakovsky in the 19th century. In 1996, the building of the former City Council was granted to the museum.
Today, the museum collection contains over 40 000 exhibits. Here, one can see paintings and sculptures, archaeological finds of the Bronze age and the medieval period, an ethnographic collection of textiles, which includes homespun shirts, towels and belts of immigrants of the late 19th century. A rare item is housed in the museum — an 1891 notebook which belonged to a member of the Romanov Imperial House.
