The Museum of the Development of the North was established in January, 1996. During the first 10 years it occupied a wooden building and there was only one exhibition hall here.
Today, it is one of the most progressive museums of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The modern building is well equipped, multimedia exhibitions are organized here, interactive programs for children are held, where they can learn about the history of the region in a fun way.
Among the unique exhibits are the collection of objects and documents on the history of industrial development of oil and gas complex of Tyumen and the ethnographical collection on material and spiritual culture of the indigenous peoples of the North, the Forest Nenets.
