The State Fedin Museum opened in the writer’s hometown of Saratov on 27 June 1981 to commemorate the academic and master of Russian prose Konstantin Fedin. Fedin spent his childhood and youth in his beloved Saratov, which would go on to play a central role in many of his works.
The museum is located in an historic 18th century building, one of the oldest surviving buildings of its kind in Saratov. The museum was established on the foundation of the writer’s archive, donated by his daughter Nina Fedina. Since the museum’s creation, its repository collections have grown to contain some 80,000 items. The museum houses unique materials on the history of 19th–20th century Russian and international literature, which has propelled it into the ranks of Russia’s leading scientific and cultural centres.
