The State Biology Museum named after K.A. Timiryazev was founded in 1922 by academician Boris Zavadovsky. Nowadays, there are more than 90 thousand exhibits in its collection.
Biology museum is a laboratory and a lecture museum, which is dedicated to main issues of biology. The exhibition has anthropological reconstructions, mollusk shells, botanic and zoological exhibits, wet preparations demonstrating developmental anomalies and etc. Visitors can also see animal paintings, dioramas and biogroups.
There is a greenhouse in the museum — a living display where more than 200 species and varieties of plants are collected: tropical, endangered and carnivorous plants.
Every year, the museum hosts approximately 50 exhibitions as well as a lot of exciting activities for preschoolers and pupils, students and adults.
