Belgorod State Museum of Fine Arts is one of the youngest museums of fine arts in Russia. It was opened in 1983. At that time, the collection was located in a two-story mansion of the early 19th century. The first exhibition of the new Museum in July 1983 was devoted to the art of battle painters.

In 2007, the Museum moved into a new three-story building where it is located now.

The bulk of its collection are paintings by Russian artists: Yuri Pimenov, Stanislav Molodykh, Solomon Nikritin, Grigory Shegal. Visitors can see the works of avant-garde artists, paintings in the austere style and in the style of Socialist realism of various years.

The collection also features Russian icons of different centuries, marble and bronze sculptures, objects of decorative and applied arts.
