The exhibition of West European Art presents the art of Western Europe from the 16th to the early 20th century. The exhibition is structured by geographical principle: each hall is dedicated to artistic work of a certain country: the Netherlands, Italy, France, and Germany.

The collection comprises sculptures, paintings, pieces of old furniture, and items of applied and decorative arts. One can see wedding chests of the 16th century with relief carving and vermeil, a table with stone Florentine mosaic, Dutch and Flemish paintings of the 18th century, and Italian sculpture. The French hall has a life portrait of Benjamin Franklin.

A separate two-storeyed mansion hosts the Museum of Foreign Art. This building was added in 1816, it is an outstanding example of urban building in the mature classicism style.
