The exhibition “Creators of New Art” of the Museum of the Saint Petersburg Avant-garde demonstrates the main stages in the formation of avant-garde culture and the diversity of Saint Petersburg avant-garde of the 1910s–1930s.
The exhibition displays books, manifestos, leaflets, photographs and other unique materials related to the activities of the “Soyuz Molodyozhi” association, the literary group “Hylaea”, the publishing house “Zhuravl” and “The First Futurist Theater in the World”.
There are also paintings and graphic works by avant-garde artists who belonged to different movements of the avant-garde (the schools of Kazimir Malevich and Pavel Filonov).
The memorial part of the exhibition includes the personal belongings of Mikhail Vasilyevich Matyushin and Elena Genrikhovna Guro, which provide an insight into the everyday life of artists in the 20th century.
