The exhibition “Sverdlovsk: This Is Radio Moscow!” is dedicated to the period of life and work of the Soviet radio announcer Yuri Borisovich Levitan between 1941 and 1943, when he was evacuated to the Urals and from there continued to bring news of the defeats and victories to the Soviet people.
The exhibition presents numerous items of the wartime, which were used by the famous announcer during the Great Patriotic War, as well as by soldiers at the front and civilians in the rear. The items, so usual back then and unfamiliar to us now, were part of the people’s daily life throughout those difficult times.
The exhibition houses items related to the history of the creation and development of radio broadcasting, as well as documents shedding light on the wartime in Sverdlovsk. The exhibits tell the story of the industrial enterprises that worked there in the 1940s, the cultural institutions that were evacuated to the Urals, and the military hospitals that operated on the territory of Sverdlovsk in those challenging years.
