The exhibition Three Centuries of Russian Painting features Russian art of the period between the beginning of the 18th and the early 20th century.
The exhibition is arranged in chronological order. At the beginning, you can see ceremonial and intimate portraits of the Emperor’s family and noblemen of the 18th century. In the next halls, you will find Classicist paintings and academic landscapes, portraits of Yaroslavl nobility and the realistic art of the Itinerants (Peredvizhniki) movement.
The final part of the exhibition features Russian impressionism and plein air painting of the end of 19th — the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition features portraits by Dmitry Levitsky and Valentin Serov, landscapes by Ivan Shishkin and Alexey Savrasov, and still life paintings by Igor Grabar and Konstantin Korovin.
