The permanent exhibition of the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts explores the Russian art created between the 18th and the early 20th century.
The basis of the collection was formed by the works of that period transferred to the museum in 1944 from the Art Department at the Council of People’s Commissars of the RSFSR, the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, and the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Local Lore.
The exhibition houses
authentic works by Vladimir Borovikovsky, Vasily Tropinin, and Ivan Aivazovsky,
paintings by the Wanderers — Ivan Kramskoy, Ivan Shishkin, Alexey Savrasov, Isaac Levitan,
Ilya Repin, Vasily Vereshchagin, Andrei Ryabushkin, and Vasily Polenov, and
representatives of the Imperial Academy of Arts — Vasily Raev, Bogdan
Willewalde, and Vasily Khudoyarov. Those who admire Russian art of the 19th and 20th centuries are sure to appreciate Konstantin Korovin’s still
lifes, Zinaida Serebryakova’s poetic portraits, Boris Kustodiev’s theatrical
designs, and works by other great artists.
