The first hall of the museum is “Bones of Antiquity”.
In addition to the mystery of the most ancient era, which is represented in this hall, visitors are amazed by the atmosphere. It’s as if we got into a cave, walls, petroglyphs on them, all this creates an illusory feeling of being in ancient times, when our region was inhabited by nomadic tribes — carriers of a special material culture.
Household utensils were molded from clay. Fragments dating back to the 2nd millennium BC are arranged on tablets in a special way: in a shape resembling the outline of a human silhouette. And here the idea is not simple, because tableware is already a creation of human hands, which means it is part of culture.
When the theme of the hall is revealed, visitors are asked to look up. There is a wooden frame resembling a long ridge with ribs. The Stanovy ridge serves as a symbol of ancient large animals that inhabited our region thousands of years ago. Visitors seem to find themselves inside a huge animal. There are exhibits on its ridge: from stone axes with ears to rocker arms. Due to the length, this ridge seems to cut into a new era, the one from which the history of the development of Siberia by Russian settlers begins, in particular, and the lower Angara region.
